Yay its Friday!
Yesterday I was caught up in a conversation with three straight guys (who don't know I'm gay) and it was really difficult for me to not feel uncomfortable. They were talking about this article in a Brisbane paper about this Gay resort. It had something to do with the name which the straight guys found intriguing. They were like 'why would you name it something like that, it so obviously implies something'. They kept going on and on about it and while what they were saying wasn't really offensive I just felt uncomfortable.
I know I should of been honest and blah blah blah but rather get defensive and 'out' myself I prefer to just keep my mouth shut. Which is probably just as obvious! But still I felt they were pushing and pushing me to see what I thought and I just smiled politely :) I'm not 100% comfortable with myself just yet.
So thats my random story.
While I have your attention - I also want to send a big shout out to Micky and his blogs check em out here here and here. Micky has been very supportive since I've 'restarted' my blog and I owe him big time :)
And also Sethy who is very familiar with where I live and grew up. He gave me a big shout out on his blog and I just wanted to say thank you!
Last one I promise - Randy - thanks for all your comments. Check out his blog too. Its a great read.
Today I'm sending off my visa application for somewhere in the Globe! Boy about Brisbane might be coming to a city near you! (not for a little while yet though).
Stay tuned
Andrew
P.S. Im getting my msn going - if you want to add me feel free to its boyaboutbrisbane@gmail.com

thanks for the plug m8...
ive added you to msn, holla at me
situations like that can be... awkward, or as you noticed, uncomfortable. I've been in them too - and also just sort of kept quiet and nodded politely, or without commenting. eventually, when you do feel comfortable about yourself, you can get a bit more involved in the discussion
I live in a small town and know exactly how it feels. will add you to my email shout back
When you're out to somebody, you're out permanently. So decide when you want to, and don't let yourself be forced or cajoled into a disclosure before you're sure you want to do it.
andrew
if you are going to live closet you can not let this stuff get you down
i am not telling you to come out believe me but to try and rationalize the behavoir of friends
Cause as long as you stay straight to the outside world believe me you will hear this talk over and over again
take care and be safe

Thanx for the plug back. Keep it up!
U can't always be the gay ambassador but I decided a while ago not to put myself thro it time & time again. It hurt too much.
So I choose my company quite carefully & am completely open with anyone who gets even vaguely near personal terms or a gay/straight comment or assumption.
I'm now secure enough that I can (hopefully) deal with it if it goes wrong one day. Mostly people R too embarassed to say anything they shouldn't these days.
Mind you I avoid Jehovas Witnesses and devout Catholics!
@ Micky — devout Catholics who know what their church says about homosexuals (for example, www.usccb.org/dpp/Ministry.pdf or http://www.usccb.org/laity/always.shtml ) shouldn't be too much of a problem if you have considered the church's position and can articulate a respectful disagreement.
thanks for all your support guys! you all have some great advice. Sometimes it feels easier to be in clostet. Its very safe. But wheres the fun in that?
Randy & jlo - I've confirmed your msn adds - hopefully with different time zones we will get to chat a bit!
Seth - thanks for the support! :)
Naturgesetz - how do you pronounce that? lol thanks for ur advice buddy. i will take it all on board
Bob - I dont let things like this get me down but i suppose i shouldn't let myself get caught in situations where i feel uncomfortable. thanks for the advice
Micky - I definitely think its about choosing the right company. I wish i was completely open with everyone like u! one day i will. Thanks mate.
